01:13- How has CIO’s role transformed and evolved?

  • The original IT department was created to centralize and minimize costs.
  • Initially, the CIOs were reporting to the CFOs.
  • CIO’s primary responsibilities were minimizing the cost and delivering capabilities but as the technology evolved the business users got savvier and started demanding more.
  • As the digitalization of technology started happening, the role of the CIO has evolved.

 03:08- Scope of work at Anchor Packaging

I put my scope of work into three categories:

  • Run
  • Grow
  • Innovate
  • I have to keep the company safe and then necessary computing capabilities at the speed of business.
  • The big thing is how do I make the organization do their jobs better, faster, and cheaper.
  • The third thing to me is innovation. I evaluate and right-size the new ideas technologies and capabilities and bring them to the organization.

12:21- What are the technology disruptions that you see in the future?

  • The labor shortage is here to stay, so I have to continually figure it out.
  • We have to figure out how we eliminate labor content as much as possible and remove not only the physical automation of the equipment.
  • The labor that we have, how do I assign them to more value-added tasks and remove all the non-value-added tasks.

19:58- Predictions in the digital economy or the tech world

  • Digital currency will evolve.
  • The acceptance rate is not very high.
  • It’s in the early stages of growth.
  • The government acceptance has to improve and increase. They have to figure out a way to tax digital currency.
