In this episode, we have Johnathan Tetsill, who talks about employee-generated content. He also talks about the need for better communication and the method to achieve it.

  • I guide them in filming themselves with their own smartphones.
  • The footage is then sent to our editing team to make it watchable and shareable.

05:43-  What are some challenges people face in communication?

  • The problem is the negative perception people have about getting involved in communications within a company
  • Employee-generated content keeps the communication honest and eliminates the judgement that might be present when senior leaders are communicating.
  • People are more likely to listen and act on information coming from someone they trust and believe in, such as their colleagues.

11:14- How do employees react when they see their own content?

  • When people share the video it gets more traction and engagement compared to when it’s solely shared by the central communications team
  • It’s important for the employees to be genuinely excited about the content they create.
  • And the excitement can only be genuine to make this all work.

21:25- What are three lessons you would want our viewers and listeners to take away?

  • No one’s bigger than the show, no one is more important than the person that you’re filming.
  • Believe in yourself. If you believe in something, don’t just back down.
  • Understand the employee’s point of view, because that is what brings out the heart of the organisation.
