Overview

Corporate communications refer to the way in which businesses and organizations communicate with internal and external various audiences. Corporate communications can take many forms depending on the audience that is being addressed. Ultimately, an organization’s communication strategy will typically consist of the written word (internal and external reports, advertisements, website copy, promotional materials, email, memos, press releases), spoken word (meetings, press conferences, interviews, video), and non-spoken communication (photographs, illustrations, infographics, general branding).

03:19- What is Corporate Communication and why is it significant for the Corporate world?

  • Whether you are an employee or a customer, you would want to understand what the company does,  what its direction is, where they’re going, where its successes are, and what its focus is.
  • Our job is to basically provide that information and also encourage and promote dialogue, both within the company and between the company and stakeholders.

04:43- What goes into building a strong corporate image?

  • Communication starts with a corporate strategy.
  • The image of the company is the corporate strategy, mission, and vision of the company.
  • We have corporate values, and also leadership principles, which we want to ensure are lived, and also demonstrate that they are being lived.

06:17- What are the most common errors people make in corporate communications?

  • Not connecting what you do in communications to the corporate strategy.
  • Even if you work in a very senior role, you still need to understand in depth what the company does, who are the customers, and what are the products and I think if you don’t understand that you really can’t do your job.

20:28- Three lessons

  • Be your own person. We only have one life to live and focusing on what other people expect or even what society expects, you’ll find at some point that that’s not really what you actually want.
  • You own your own time. you really can set boundaries, and it’s your own time to do things, plan things, and move your life and ideas forward.
  • Be curious. Try to learn new things.
