Overview

Poor quality education is leading to poor learning outcomes in India, ultimately pushing children out of the education system and leaving them vulnerable to child labor, abuse, and violence. Many classrooms continue to be characterized by teacher-centered rote learning, corporal punishment, and discrimination. We have brought Vishal Anand, the Pro-Chancellor & Founder of Shoolini University in Himachal Pradesh, to talk to us about quality education.

06:21- What is the function of these 200 labs?

  • If you really want to build quality research, we need people who are exposed to quality research.
  • 24 was the initial number now I operate more than 200 labs.
  • It gave me a big kick-start where we had someone who’s been an expert for 15 to 18 years in a top global lab.
  • We immediately had a collaboration with the top global university.

08:37- Where is the gap between expectations and delivery for the parents and children when it comes to institutions?

  • India is stuck between a more socialist approach and the more capitalist approach.
  • We are really short on supply. It is not about the quality.
  • I have seen a lot of struggles in opening up education and giving the right supply.
  • I personally believe in the next two to three years, India will disrupt education, the way they disrupted fintech.

13:26- Vocational Training for Youngsters

  • Learning platforms can change someone’s life.
  • With platforms like YouTube, learning is endless.
  • It is not about a formal degree program, vocational program, or online learning as long as you can learn and get inspired.
