The Brand Called You welcomes Ms. Vanessa D’Souza a banker turned social entrepreneur! Vanessa is the CEO of SNEHA, a society for nutrition education and health. She was a Director with Citigroup Private Bank. She is also the recipient of the Mother Teresa Social Leadership Scholarship! Vanessa, in conversation with host Ashutosh Garg, talks about her career and the reasons she shifted from the private sector to the social sector. Vanessa shares the three key milestones and describes how they have molded her life and career. Talking about her organization SNEHA, Vanessa shares that her team works towards the betterment of people belonging to various age groups and genders. She works with adolescents, women, children etc. And makes an attempt to combat the issues of malnutrition, gender violence, anemia, at risk cancer patients and protection against violence towards women and children. Vanessa believes that the nutrition schemes of the government are quite vast and helpful but need better management. And that motivational training and leadership skills for government frontline workers for better implementation of schemes is the way forward! She also talks about the nature of work she does with some very compelling examples. To Vanessa, hard work and persistence are the stepping stones to success!

Vanessa D’Souza has served as CEO of SNEHA since March 2013, after a volunteering stint with SNEHA. Prior to that, she worked with Citibank India in various positions, her last role being: Director, Citigroup Private Bank. During her tenure with Citibank she worked across various divisions including Non-Resident Indian Business, Corporate Bank, Project Re-engineering and eventually with the Private Bank. She won the coveted Citicorp Chairman’s Service Excellence Award in 1989 for exemplary performance. She holds a Bachelors (Honours) degree in Economics and a postgraduate degree in Management with a specialization in Marketing. Vanessa pursued the Management Executive Development Programme at Stanford University, USA.
