Murali Murti is a first-time author who has written his first novel – a thriller – during the time that became available during the long lockdowns during the Covid pandemic. This is his latest endeavour in a varied life encompassing qualifications earned at India’s best educational institutions, a successful professional career in India and overseas, and a foray into academic research and teaching.
In industry, he has over four decades of experience in different senior roles including at the CEO level in major Indian IT companies in India and overseas, trade promotion in Europe, and advisory roles across different sectors. Currently a senior partner in Sigma Ventures, he brings this storehouse of knowledge and experience to bear on new technology opportunities in the Aerospace and Defence sectors in India, in which he has maintained a special interest, including as an entrepreneur, for the past ten years.
He holds a B.Tech in electrical engineering from IIT Bombay, an MBA from IIM Calcutta, and a PhD from the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), Bengaluru. His doctoral thesis was titled “Knowledge Processes and their role in Innovation – a comparison of selected Chinese and Indian practices”. His research and work have given him deep insights into the paradigms and practices of technological innovation across the globe. Outside of work he enjoys travelling, films and web serials, and is an aficionado of espionage novels. He lives in Bengaluru.
Born into a railway family, he has lived and travelled extensively across India and overseas. He discovered a love for books, especially of the classic spy and thriller genres, during the long train journeys and bookshops and libraries of his youth. He was fascinated by science and technology from an early age and developed an interest in their impact on history during a long career that embedded him in diverse places and cultures. He rediscovered writing during a later stint as a professor of management and decided to write his first novel after submitting his doctoral thesis.
Supersonic – a thriller that rewrites history is his first novel.
