00:38- What are some inflection points in your life?
- Growing up in a country that transformed into a developed country gave me plenty of opportunities.
- After a good start, I explored new and interesting roles and experiences.
- Lastly, I had some pit stops during my career. Pit stops gave me the opportunity to step back and think, what is the bigger world, what is the bigger picture?
11:55- What is your vision for ITU?
- I want to implement partnerships for connectivity. We want a really strong industry engagement and make sure that we have a strategic industry engagement.
- We want more industry engagement on strategic and direction-setting levels and actually helping UN member states understand where the world is going.
- The second topic is sustainability and making sure that we play a role in addressing the climate crisis.
- We want to make sure the operational stuff is fast, efficient, responsive, and close to the members, so we can implement faster and be accountable.
19:09- Can you talk about the partnership of the connectivity program of the ITU to address connectivity issues?
- We want to make sure that different issues of connectivity are addressed in with regard to the climate crisis or Sustainable Development Goals.
- If the ITU brings the right partners around the table and convenes them in a compelling way, we can have great results.
- We have close to 30 billion worth of pledges and but we have to make sure those pledges translate into real action.
26:24- What are your recommendations to the audience?
- Don’t be despondent looking at the world today, keep the hope up and keep the action up.
- The digital world will make our lives better.
- Contribute to facing our challenges of today including requirement crisis.
