Overview
E-commerce and digital platforms have taken the world by storm. In the same way, data is also ruling the whole world in our modern world. Tune in to this episode of The Brand Called You and learn how both these developments are responsible for the dramatic evolution of the supply chain function.
In this episode, we feature Abhishek A. Shah, an accomplished young supply chain leader from Dubai. Abhishek co-founded his supply chain business with his dad in the year 2009, a pioneering supply chain management firm that provides integrated supply chain solutions, from freight forwarding, moving, storing, distribution, customs, and brokerage in multiple geographies around the world, including India, China, and East Africa.
“Today you have to be a fully integrated provider to really solve a customer’s problem.”
In the interview, Abhishek talks about the impact of the pandemic on supply chains and explains the relevance of digital freight forwarding in the new world order. Supply chains are basically logistic functions of how to get a product from point A to point B, but when the world was under lockdown, the physical functions of businesses were severely affected.
“Digital freight forwarding is basically making supply chains much simpler and much more cleaner.”
It is said that the supply chains are generating more profits for major companies than their marketing functions, hence, the rapid growth of the supply chain in recent years. From a purchase manager to a C-suite executive, Supply Chain managers have become increasingly important. Abhishek explains why having a good supply chain is a competitive advantage if you are a fast-delivering company. He gives the example of Amazon and explains how delivering fast gives you a competitive edge over competitors.
The after-covid world has seen a dramatic shift in global markets. It is said that the world is now moving towards de-globalization. Abhishek comments on that and explains how one can mitigate risks during this uncertain time.
