The Indian road transport carries goods worth billions of dollars a year. Infrastructure forms the backbone of a country with culturally different regions. It is paramount that the infrastructure runs smoothly. Logistics plays a critical role in it. About Anjani Mandal
Mr. Anjani Mandal is the co-founder and CEO of Fortigo Networks Lt, Trucks network. Fortigo was established in 2015 to address the logistical challenges of the supply chain and distribution business. It works to organize the unorganized sector to promote productivity and efficiency. He talks about cloud-based solutions for easy access of goods to the end-users.
DISCUSSION
Mr. Anjani Mandal talks about his venture as an attempt to bring efficiency and productivity to India’s trucking ecosystem. He explains, “We compile ecosystem players for visibility of real truth than knowledge passed on, which might not be accurate.”
He also talks about his exposure to the logistics side and his gradual development of interest in the specialized yet indispensable department.
Supporting Trucking in India
As digitization picked up pace from 2016 onwards and other notable events like demonetization and GST happened, there was a need to enable the unorganized sector to resort to digital payment methods.
Anjani claims that their efforts have provided a one-step solution for shippers, transporters, and drivers with their one platform network of everyone. He explains, “We need a network when we are geographically distributed. We need connectivity to a single system. It is our ability to be able to connect people using technology: the guys who need to have a truck with the guys who have the truck.”
Benefits of Technology
With the proliferation of cloud computing and network with available Internet, India is catching up well with the rest of the world. He explains the initial hesitation to adopt new technology. But as they realize the benefit, then it comes out faster. He says, “It is only possible if you give something to someone and showcase the benefits to the rest.”
Mr. Mandal also talks a great deal about the security and privacy of data. He explains how these Softwares come with layers that protect privacy.
On managing the transition with emerging technology, Mr. Mandal says that we have a choice. He further explains, “You can only wait if you have an alternate revenue scheme or capital to sustain.”
Mr. Mandal emphasizes the need for correct thought leaders who spread the benefits of a particular technology.
