  • The Oxford Character Project, established in 2014 at the University of Oxford, conducts research on character and leadership. 
  • Their mission is to develop a new generation of leaders driven by courage, generosity, hope, and humility, making a positive impact across different sectors worldwide.

[07:27] – What led you to focus on the intersection of character, virtue, and leadership development? How do you define these concepts?

  • This integration is historic. WWe go back to the classical world, where , wherethe ideals for leaders were based on these important character virtues. 
  • When we read a text like, “Aristotle’s Politics,” we discover that it is prominently emphasized in significant ways.
  • Its influence is reflected in other traditions across different parts of the world as well.
  • Today, we have lost the way of reading and understanding these qualities as habits and practices. Instead, we tend to think of them as a mere checklist. 
  • As a result, we have lost the dynamic sense of the importance of qualities such as honesty, truthfulness, transparency, courage, and integrity in our leaders.
