Discussion

What made you want to become a Coach?

Nicole says that it was always her calling to become a coach and that she wanted to interact with people. She even wanted to study psychology but did business to business marketing and worked in the chemical’s industry instead of on her parents’ advice. Then they moved to Switzerland, for the career of her ex-husband when she felt she should get back to work. And that was the period when she decided to study clinical psychology. That was the beginning of the journey, says Nicole and other things followed.

What changes over the last many decades has made coaching so relevant that people are willing to pay for it?

She believes that we all need someone or a moment of awareness that changes the course of our lives and careers. The reason why the demand for executive coaches is increasing these days may be the fast pace at which everything is taking place. Besides, not generations of families live in one home these days. Rather, people live in isolation and the support of each other is really essential to growth. Coaching is a structured process. When people invest in themselves, the process becomes intentional and they can bring more value to their lives by being intentional.

What is the difference between Mentoring and Coaching?

Nicole explains the difference between coaching and mentoring by suggesting that mentoring is more of giving advice, or solutions to employees and sharing your own experience. Whereas coaching is the process of facilitating that the clients find their own answers.

How does a Coachee evaluate the Coach?

A coachee can determine if they have a good coach from the experience of growth. If they become more influential, more successful and happier, and validation of these by others, then it confirms the positive results of working with a coach.

How does culture impact Coaching?

“I believe that culture is not a boundary.”

She says that she has worked with several clients from different cultures and has been able to connect humans to humans while respecting their culture. And with this kind of belief, there would be no boundaries in culture and coaching can be as effective.
