03:07- Founding the company
- I had a background in extraordinary advertising agencies where I got to work for some of the best in the country and launch wonderful brands around it.
- But when the internet really took hold, and we realized that it was going to change the way in which we made decisions, I felt as though the industry really wasn’t prepared enough for it.
- I wanted to be a part of that solution.
- I was able to start a consultancy inside the last agency where I worked.
- But then I just took it out on my own starting in 2007.
05:45- Are you still on your own? Or do you employ more people?
- I have two people who work with me full-time. So we’re a little company of three.
- But if we take on bigger consulting projects, we often need more people to be part of it.
- We have a vast network of people who we pull in various projects and things that we do. The way we describe it, the future is fluid and so are our teams.
- We’re going to be much more fluid in that we’re going to have these ecosystems, of talent and experience and ability to have time, and everyone’s going to learn to work full time on every single thing.
38:21- Advice to young managers starting their own journey
- I do think aligning your work with who you are, is really critical, and being in an environment that supports that, but not being snow flaky that you have to leave the minute that you have to work overtime.
- I think that we have to build some resilience into our way of thinking and into what we do but come at it from a real place of privilege.
- You should be excited about the work that you get to do and what you get to learn from it and when you get to contribute to it. Find a place that does that for you.
