What makes a good coach?
Leadership, apart from other things, is about keeping yourself relevant in the long run. Every successful leader needs the right guidance and perspective to inculcate good values in themselves as well as the people they lead.
In order to keep their leadership maintained, many leaders today opt for leadership/executive coaching. A profession that was not very well known a decade ago, is now flourishing in the corporate sector. Executive/business coaches help leaders and CEOs to have clarified visions of their goals, develop self awareness and act as sounding boards for them.

What makes a good coach?
When asked what led him to become a coach, Julian replies:
“I started to reflect on my 20 years and I realized actually as much as I hit my KPIs and I got excited, I’ve grown my market share as a business. What really got me excited is when I saw an individual who used to work for me sort of fly in terms of their own developments, their own sort of goals and seeing them achieve something and I mean being part of that by getting alongside them because I had quite a coaching style. And that’s what really got me excited and I started thinking okay that’s what I like and I started to explore that!”
Julian’s experience as a coach has been that of immense learnings. He speaks about the importance of coaching in the modern day. Julian also throws light on the increasing interest of people towards coaching. He shares that the younger generations like Gen Z already have developmental approaches.
“I am a believer that we all need a coach at some part of our lives. A coach is not there for all. It’s a short term intervention.”

After 20 years of success (and failure) in the business world, I realised I valued watching one of my direct reports win, more than winning business myself. My core driver is and has been the desire to unlock another’s potential.
