[00:34] – About Anton Borzov

  • Anton is a Partner of StratMinds, a venture capital firm focused on AI.
  • He is also the Founder of Sunflower Fund.
  • Anton started his product design career with WhatsApp.

[17:12] – After your tenure at WhatsApp, how did you transition to other roles?

  • The transition after WhatsApp involved joining Neva, an AI-powered personal search engine, as head of design.
  • Subsequently, I started my startup.
  • The war in Ukraine prompted me to establish a nonprofit for humanitarian aid.
  • I later delved into venture capital, initially as an LP (limited partner) and eventually becoming a full-time partner at StratMinds, focusing on applied AI investments.

[35:30] – What is your stance on the timeline for achieving AGI—do you think it’s closer within the next decade or further down the line?

  • I believe AGI won’t emerge until it’s embodied.
  • Despite promising advancements, the integration of emotions and bodily interactions is crucial for true AGI.
  • My Zen background influences my belief that intelligence’s growth involves inclusivity and coexistence, which might take longer to replicate artificially.

[50:59] – Final recommendations for the audience.

  • My emphasis is on cultivating “multimodal curiosity” (MMC) and active listening.
  • For entrepreneurs, “big ears” symbolise actively listening to customers, enabling quick feedback loops.
  • For designers, it’s about nurturing curiosity across different modes and embracing the mind-body connection in the creative process.
