Back with the ‘Supply Chain Guru’ series, this time we have a very senior and experienced individual, from the pharma industry- Tishey Sharma.
Tishey is an expert from the pharmaceutical industry and is the Senior Director and Head of APAC Procurement at Teva Pharmaceutical ltd. In his early career he has worked with Mars Wrigley, GSK, Nupont and others.
In this interview with host Ashutosh Garg, Tishey talks about some very vital aspects of supply chains. Being a Supply Chain Guru himself, Tishey answers some very basic and frequently asked questions with regards to supply chains and supply chain management. Tishey very interestingly connects the origin of supply chains from the Mahabharata and even World War II! Tishey explains how supply chains were in existence ever since people needed to deliver raw materials in order to procure a final product. Tishey throws light on the shift in the responsibilities of a supply chain manager from solely managing supplies to handling three modern aspects of supply chain procurement. He also explains the importance of sustainable sourcing which plays a very important role in protecting the environment whilst carrying out the smooth working of supply chains. Smaller changes which are slowly being adapted by supply chain networks have also been very correctly highlighted by him. Tishey describes the position of supply chains during this trying pandemic and gives his opinions on the subject. Technology has also played a very vital role in bringing about the many changes that supply chains have faced. Automation of functioning and the entry of ecommerce platforms has launched supply chains into a larger recognition and preference range.
