Overview

Women have been socialized to accept shame regarding their bodies, their sexuality, and their sexual desire. Shame has been passed on between generations in the form of silence and the utilization of terms intended to diminish and even vilify a woman’s sexuality.  This is evidenced by the fact that medical drawings and medical literature from only a few years ago do not include a complete depiction or understanding of female genitalia.

We have with us Jingjin Liu, the Co-Founder, and CEO of ZaZazu, a personalized sexual wellness hub in the Asia Pacific. She talks about sexual wellness.

[00:34] About Jingjin Liu

Jingjin Liu is the Co-Founder and CEO of ZaZazu, a personalized sexual wellness hub in ASEAN that synergizes education, consultation, and digital service to empower women to own their sexuality with confidence.

About ZaZazu

We are the first sexual wellbeing hub in ASEAN that synchronizes education, consultation and curated product to empower women to own their sexuality. We create a Safe Space for women to explore, experiment, and enhance their sexual wellness.

[00:57] Journey from Automobiles to Sexual Wellness

I grew up in China and went to Germany when I was 16. I was very different from what Asian society expects of a woman. I was too loud, extroverted, and opinionated. I studied Industrial Engineering in Germany. I want to empower women to do more.

[03:50] What was the motivation to start the venture?

I have always felt that how can we build something that helps women to build confidence from within. Women today can be CEO, can be housemakers, can be anything we aim to be, the time has never been better for women. But there is no platform that is addressing this issue and empowers women to own this aspect of our life.

[05:28] What are the sexual wellness challenges?

From a women’s perspective, sex is often considered a duty. It’s a direct link to having children. A minority of people know that women own the only organ in human history which is the clitoris which has no function but to give pleasure. So nature has designed us in a way, and we are not leveraging the power of our bodies.

[11:54] How does culture impacts the discussion on these topics?

In Asian society, all we care about is family and the community. In Asia, there is no concept of individualism. People marry for the sake of the next generation.

[21:57] Three life lessons

  • Do not start any business or venture, if it is not a personal calling.
  • If you are on this route, make friends before you need them.
  • Do great things and talk about them, share your ups and downs.
