He is a highly facilitated and recognized individual globally. Francis is also a young global leader from the World Economic Forum. He is also the Chair of the Asia Venture Philanthropy Network.
On an adventurous note, Francis is also an ultra-running veteran. In this interview, Francis shares his journey of working with social ventures and how he became an ultra runner! He also shares the challenges faced and the experiences gained on the way.
About Social Venture Hong Kong:
Established in 2007, Social Venture Hong Kong was initially a French Philanthropy Organisation that works on several social innovation projects that recently turned to mobilizing and including other sectors like business as well. Social Venture Hong Kong is an Impact Purpose Organisation that is stepping towards leading different sectors to work together. They have three pillars – impact venture, impact media, and impact capital. Overall they are a nonprofit-based organization.

Social Ventures Hong Kong has incubated over 40 social innovation projects. A decade ago, SVHG was the first organization to start Hong Kong’s very first wheelchair-accessible taxis! Keeping in mind the housing issues of the citizens, SVHG also works towards affordable housing. They have managed to stand around a hundred and thirty apartments that have served over 400 families! The organization has convinced the government to launch a social housing policy to help more and more people. They have also built a value chain called Green Common, which imports plant-based foods to the citizens.
They have worked in a wide array of fields and continue to work towards the welfare of the people at large!

Francis Ngai is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Social Ventures Hong Kong. He is also the Founder of Playtao Education, Bottless, Hatch co-working factory, Sonova Institute, and Co-Founder of Green Monday and RunOurCity, etc. Since founded in 2007, SVhk has invented and incubated more than 40 social innovation projects, including LightBe affordable housing and Diamond Cab. Being an Impact Purpose Organization, it dedicates to innovating social change through pioneering impact ventures, aggregating impact capital, and providing Business 2.0 consultancy. Prior to establishing SVhk, Francis was the Head of Strategy in a listed technology conglomerate in HK. He graduated from the City University of Hong Kong and was conferred as an Honorary Fellow by the University in 2013. He was selected as one of the 100 Asia Pioneers by The Purpose Economy in 2014, a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum in 2012, one of Hong Kong’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2011, and Honorary Fellow of the Education University of HK in 2018. He also serves as Deputy Chairman of Asia Venture Philanthropy Network. As an ultra-running veteran, Francis completed The North Pole Marathon in 2013, the Sundown Ultra-marathon 100km Race, and the 250-km Gobi March of the 4 Deserts race series.
