[07:14] – What was the pivotal moment or realisation that led you to redirect your career and your efforts towards social entrepreneurship?

  • After encountering the largest slum in Asia during a trip to India in 1987, I was deeply affected. 
  • This experience prompted me to reflect on my life’s purpose and led to the decision to retire from my business endeavours and move towards social entrepreneurship.

[18:12] – What were some of the biggest challenges you faced in your philanthropic work? How did you overcome them?

  • The major challenge was identifying trustworthy partners and navigating new projects. 
  • I overcame these hurdles by building relationships, networking, and conducting field visits to assess needs firsthand.

[20:18] – What inspired you to write your autobiographical memoir? What message do you hope readers will take away from it?

  • The book highlights the importance of having an attitude that serves the marginalised.
  • It has the significance of humility and integrity.
  • It also focuses on resilience to never give up despite challenges.
