03:58-  How do the values and priorities of Gen Z differ from those of the previous generations?

  • Each generation’s values are deeply influenced by the context in which they grew up. The boomer generation always valued loyalty, hard work, and hierarchy because they didn’t have many opportunities.
  • In the first quarter of their lives, Gen Z has seen two wars, a pandemic, the climate crisis, and the energy crisis, and they’re experiencing things like the fake news movement and the Me Too movement.
  • Gen Z value, a company that is passionate about sustainability, they are keen on diversity, they value a company that is on the cutting edge of digitization because they were born into the internet.

23:04- How has growing up in a post-9/11 World affected Gen Z’s perspectives on global events and politics?

  • They have seen 9/11 and 26/11. They’re now seeing the Ukraine war and another one that just started. They’re living in a world where there are things like fake news, deep fake AI, etc.
  •  It’s a fragile place and on top of that you have AI and ML. There’s a prediction that a lot of the junior and entry-level jobs will be gone. 
  • It’s not an easy place, both from a parent’s perspective and a company’s perspective. A lot of handling needs to be done. But we will look back and say that we learned a lot, but it was doable.
