  • We’ve moved into the third industrial revolution, we’re starting the fourth now.
  • There was a lot of cognizance and focus on technology from a manufacturing perspective and from the customer’s perspective.
  • We saw a big shift as there was more appreciation of the skills that are not just related to making something but more around creation of ideas and creation of experiences and relationships.
  • I think there’s still a journey to be fulfilled. There will be some more nomenclature changes.

05:21- How did work from home and great resignation changed organizations?

  • It’s not a great resignation, it’s a reckoning, it’s a reset that was in play for over a decade and people who’ve been in this space over the years recognize it.
  • I did not see this as a negative event. I see this more as the highlighting of something that was always happening.
  • The most difficult one continues to be trust it’s easy to put on technology it’s easy to make sure people exchange information on task, but trust is lacking.

09:13- How is technology changing the HR function?

  • There was always this classic approach to business strategy and competitive strategy. You figure out what kind of technology and team do I need. That paradigm has been completely flipped your business strategy is determined by your imagination and the capability of technology.
  • The potential of technology is actually driving businesses.

13:31- What made you write on technology?

  • Earlier, the processes in hr and finance and supply chain were very manual.
  • We started seeing the infusion of technology in the 90s.
  • What can technology do to transform the experience, the data sets, the data fabric of the organization like the security landscape, digital identity which may not be as evident to folks who’ve looked at hr traditionally in the past.
  • Blockchain is just a technology. It’s just an enabler and when you think how can we use it in different situations, how it can be applied to the talent ecosystem  so that was kind of a genesis of some of this.
