Devindran is the founder and managing Director of ACS Asia Pacific, he has represented malaysia in Cricket. He is also honorary Vice President of the Malaysian Cricket Association.

His work in the Automotive Industry and his Company ACS Asia Pac

Devindran has been working in the automotive industry for more than 21 years and has served companies like BMW, Porsche, Ford. He went on to become the head of the aftersales group in Malaysia.  In 2011, he set up his own company. He says “I wanted to do something I could grow and continue to do and have time on my side” 

He had worked for many years in the industry and had the knowledge which young people were in need of. And his consulting company ACS Asia Pac has expanded across many South Asian countries. 

“We do consulting, coaching, training in the area very much on aftersales, helping dealerships, helping manufacturers perform better, improve customer satisfaction and the ownership experience.”

Why is the service of luxury cars so expensive? 

The quality of the components, the comfort and the pride of owning the car are the reasons according to Devindran behind the high cost these cars come with. Plus, these brands do a good job winning people’s hearts. People are willing to pay the price to get the driving experience these cars provide. 

The impact of Evs taking over the current service cars 

Devindran agrees that the world is being digitized and technology is advancing. Companies like Tesla are manufacturing electric vehicles which are really quick at fixing any issues with the car. He says that there’s time for the scenario to change but he is also concerned about how it is going to impact the automotive industry. 

About his Experience and his Career in Cricket

Devindran Ramanathan shares his journey about how he got into cricket, and his experiences. He played his first game when he was 21 and he says that he always enjoyed the game. He talks about the challenges to popularise the game in Malaysia and the changes or improvements that have taken place over the years. 

Devindran talks about the many great friendships he has made as part of this journey. He recalls inviting people as guests for presenting talks etc including Kapil Dev, Imran Khan, and the wonderful experience both the parties had. “I think Malaysia has become a spot that many of the cricketers enjoy coming to. And we don’t miss out on those opportunities” He believes having people come for fundraising events or interviews helps keep the game going.

Devindran qualified in Automotive Engineering and Motor Vehicle Management studies in the UK in the 80’s. During his studies, he excelled academically and achieved numerous awards including the UK’s Institute of Motor Industry Trophy and Principal’s award for his performance in College. As a certified Licentiate Automotive Engineer, Devindran returned to home shores where he spent many years working with Auto Bavaria, a subsidiary of Tractors Malaysia, the leading blue-chip entity in Malaysia and BMW’s largest dealer group in Malaysia. Being a front runner in the automobile trade, Devindran regularly had opportunities to grow; from localization of automotive component + manufacturing, vehicle assembly, setting-up Auto Bavaria’s motorcycle division then on to after-sales where few men dare to go. Devindran rose from the rank of Service Manager to National Service Manager at Auto Bavaria. During this time, he obtained his Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the International Islamic University. In his most recent years, Devindran served as Head Aftersales, Sime Darby Auto Connexion
(Importer/Distributor and Dealer of Ford, Land Rover, Alfa and Hertz) where he help set up a new multi- franchise operation to provide customers with a totally new brand presence in Malaysia. Devindran’ s final
position in corporate Sime was as Head of Aftersales, Sime Darby Motors, Malaysian Region, where he was responsible for the Aftersales(Parts, Service, Bodyshop, Fleet Management & CRM) activities of the all 6 brands represented by Sime Darby in the country up to January 2011. His position required him to work in various project teams, identifying new business opportunities, meet with brand principals and building a shared vision for the various franchises in Malaysia. The position provided opportunities to travel to host countries and the region where Sime Darby had a presence. He prides himself in working to bring the best out of his team, being different and wishing to make a difference to the organization from competitors; a strategy that will be unique, long lasting and successful. Devindran draws upon his vast 21 years Motor industry experience and exposure to different brands and foundered his company ACS AsiaPac as Managing Director. ACS AsiaPac was granted IMI QAA Approved Center status in 2012 and currently focuses on Aftersales Training, Consulting and raising the overall image of the Aftersales stakeholders. Some of the more recent work undertaken included a consulting assignment with Tesco Fleet to develop/refine their Fleet Operating Model in order to minimize cost, maximize asset utilization and promote the well-being of the employees in the process Devindran is also monthly contributing writer to News Straits Times, Motoring supplement “Cars, Bikes and Trucks”. Being an active and avid sportsman, Devindran represented Malaysia at cricket and is determine to give
back to the game by grooming younger talent in the sport he loves. He is currently the Honorary Vice- President of Malaysian Cricket Association and believes that “in our working career, we should have a
balanced life, and use the knowledge & skills learned along the way to groom the younger generation in any given opportunity”
