Overview

With new startups coming up everyday, what is the recipe of success that only a few of them end up sustaining while others disappear quickly? Market research of an idea, impact on society, team, culture etc. are few elements that the founders ought to be cognizant of when building a business. In today’s episode, we share some key challenges and ways to cope up with when starting a startup.

[05:04] – What are you doing at Jumpstart Studio?

  • Jumpstart Studio was born in the middle of the pandemic, and it started off with me doing a lot of pro bono work.
  • I would go in as a coach and a mentor because I had the corporate experience and some startup experience. I could go in and help people with a lot of different areas.
  • As I was doing that I started finding that there’s a lot of them that needed that additional help and additional push.
  • The vision for Jumpstart Studio was this one-stop shop where corporate professionals and I started speaking to turn people’s business ideas into reality. We helped them move from being just in that ideation zone to actually taking action and building something effective.
  • We are also involved in testing their ideas and getting out in the market and then liaising with the other providers possible like legal, accounting officers.

[06:28] – Challenges that a lot of early startups face

  • They took the leap, but soon realized they bit off more than they could chew.
  • The challenge lies in sustaining momentum. Many people have that initial light bulb moment and start building something with great enthusiasm. However, they often lose track and momentum due to various factors.
  • Common reasons for losing momentum: unclear target audience, uncertain desired outcome, underestimated workload across various areas like finance, accounting, marketing, and legal.
