Sotirios has a PhD in Automation and Robotics from Tsinghua University. He is a civil engineer in Robotics and AI and is the Founder and CEO of Popular Robotics.Â
In this very interesting interview with host Frits Bussemaker, Sotirios shares his journey into the world of robotics. He shares many anecdotes behind his age old love for robotics and technology. Being an extremely curious child, Sotirios grew up learning about the working of simple toys and technical objects. He spent his further years studying Automation and Robotics in detail.Â
Sotorios founded Popular Robotics, a tech startup to empower the robotics community. And a networking branch Robociti to create an online robotics platform for people all over the world. The platform has gained an amazing response from people all around the world.
They currently have 10,000 registered members who participate in the various learning sessions, competitions, and workshops conducted by Robociti. Sotirios informs that most of his audience is largely from emerging markets like India, Pakistan, Nigeria, etc.Â
He believes that while technology is moving with speed, it is not fast enough! In his opinion, imaginations backed with high technology can change the world for good.

Sotirios Stasinopoulos received his Diploma in Electrical and Computers Engineering in 2011 from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece and in 2017 his Ph.D. in Automation and Robotics by the Department of Automation of Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. He has worked as a robotics perception engineer and project manager in UBTech Robotics, mainly leading humanoid AI, CV and SLAM projects. He is the co-founder/CEO of MENATHLON S.A. in Athens, Greece since 2014 and in 2018 he founded Popular Robotics in Beijing, a robotics company aiming to make robotics and AI accessible to everyone through education and social networking.
