A professional journey through the tumultuous years of advertising and communication, starting in 1984. Starting out in the age of print, the entry of satellite TV and the digital revolution. Advertising and communication today is vastly different from its origin and the last two decades have seen momentous changes. RK Swamy BBDO – 1984-89: Campaigns for BPL, one of the earliest consumer durable brands in India, TVS Suzuki, and an IPO for Hindustan Photo films. Sista’s Saatchi & Saatchi – 1989-91: Campaigns for brands from the Royal Enfield Company, Computer Point – India’s first computer retail store, Bush Boake Allen, one of the largest flavour and fragrance companies in the world and Salem Steel. Mudra DDB – 1991-1996: Campaigns for Reynolds pens, Launched Asianet, Trigger brand of jeans, Cycle brands like Rockshox from TI Cycles. Fountainhead – 1996-2004: Launched Fairever, worked on several brands from Cavin Kare, including Meera, Nyle Shampoo, Nyle Cold Cream, etc. In 8 years, scripted and supervised over 100 TV commercials shot and produced in London, Switzerland, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand and Thailand. Brand Portrait – 2004-2008: Started own advertising and branding agency along with partners. Worked on campaigns for Apollo Hospitals, BGR Energy, Verizon, Chennai Live radio, Cavin Kare, Chaitanya Builders, Everonn, Empee Distilleries and Ramco System among others. Ideascape Communications – 2008: Present. Launched a new company, solo and have been running it for the past decade. Clients include Fortune 500 companies like ADP, Randstad, Heidelberg, KONE, IFF, and Microsoft. Specialise in B2B marketing, digital strategy, branding and creative execution. As a Creative Director turned CEO, making the transition personally and professionally has been a tremendous experience. With a small but highly experienced and efficient team, we have been nimble and adapted to the changed that advertising companies have had to make. There are no easy solutions in today’s market. Getting attention is more precious than gold and brands cannot hope to have long reins at the top until they continually reinvent themselves.
