Pradeep Pundhir, Founder and Director, SPECTRA Organisation

Pradeep Pundhir is a well-known grassroot social activist of Alwar district in Rajasthan, India who founded and heads the SPECTRA organisation as a Director. Born and brought up in Rajgarh block of Alwar district, Rajasthan where his father was a teacher in a government school. He did his schooling from Government School, and later completed post-graduation in English literature from Alwar Arts College, Rajasthan University and B.Ed. from Jammu Kashmir University and Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development from IGNOU.

Today on our podcast, we have a leader from the social sector, Pradeep Pundhir in conversation with our host Ashutosh Garg. Pradeep has contributed his whole life giving back to the society, especially the villages, empowering the women there and restoring the culture of the villages. Founder and Director of Spectra, Pradeep tells us about his interest in Sewa from a young age, he shares the challenges he faces while working with the village women and how he helps them stand on their own feet. The girl children educated by the mohalla schools led by Pradeep have achieved so much in life and have become role models for the smaller girls in villages. After completing his study, he served as a college lecturer in Mohta College, Sadulpur , Churu , Rajasthan. Since his childhood, he was very much engaged with the local people of the village. Being continuously involved in the community he realized about the certain problems which often becomes the cobweb of unemployment, women and child exploitation, domestic violence, undeveloped livelihood opportunities and many social stigmas. This understanding of the society highly affected him and encouraged him to do something extraordinary for the community. As a result he resigned from his job and plunged in an unknown venture that would bring changes to the society especially in rural development and transformation.
